Ever wonder why and how fondue came about? It’s quite simple, actually – simple in all ways. The dish we call fondue comes from the French word “fonder” which is the verb “to melt”. It all started when villagers and common folk in Switzerland had to try and make their groceries last through the long winter months. Eventually, 
the stock of cheese would get old and dry – and the bread too. So, to make things a little easier to eat, they learned that melting the cheese and dunking the dried bread was a great solution. Not only that, but they figured out that adding a little wine made the cheese sauce taste even better!
Even though fondue had humble beginnings and was typically consume
